For the Fluffy Chocolate Cake Layers:

  • 4 oz German’s Sweet Chocolate baking bar (or high-quality dark chocolate) 🍫
  • ½ cup Water 💧
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour 🌾
  • 1 tsp Baking soda & ½ tsp Salt 🧂
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, softened 🧈
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar & ½ cup Light brown sugar 🤎
  • 4 large Eggs (separated into yolks and whites) 🥚
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract 🍦
  • 1 cup Buttermilk 🥛

For the Legendary Coconut-Pecan Frosting:

  • 1 cup Evaporated milk 🥛
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar 🤍
  • 3 large Egg yolks 🥚
  • ½ cup (1 stick) Unsalted butter 🧈
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract 🍦
  • 1.5 cups Sweetened shredded coconut 🥥
  • 1 cup Chopped pecans 🥜
