For the Fluffy Chocolate Cake Layers:
- 4 oz German’s Sweet Chocolate baking bar (or high-quality dark chocolate) 🍫
- ½ cup Water 💧
- 2 cups All-purpose flour 🌾
- 1 tsp Baking soda & ½ tsp Salt 🧂
- 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, softened 🧈
- 1.5 cups Granulated sugar & ½ cup Light brown sugar 🤎
- 4 large Eggs (separated into yolks and whites) 🥚
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract 🍦
- 1 cup Buttermilk 🥛
For the Legendary Coconut-Pecan Frosting:
- 1 cup Evaporated milk 🥛
- 1 cup Granulated sugar 🤍
- 3 large Egg yolks 🥚
- ½ cup (1 stick) Unsalted butter 🧈
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract 🍦
- 1.5 cups Sweetened shredded coconut 🥥
