After 31 Years of Marriage, My Husband Started Leaving Our Bed at Night ‘Because of His Back’ – Then I Heard Him Whisper, ‘Daddy Loves You Too’

Greg blinked.

“A kitten.”

“I can SEE that it’s a kitten!”

The tiny animal let out a squeak.

Greg immediately looked down.

“It’s okay, Susan.”

I stared at him.

“Susan?”

“My mother’s name.”

“You named a kitten after your dead mother?”

For one ridiculous moment, that somehow seemed like the strangest part of the situation.

Then I looked down at the hole beside him.

My stomach tightened again.

“Greg… why are you burying a kitten?”

His eyes widened.

“What? No! I’m not burying anything.”

He dropped the shovel.

“Listen.”

I frowned.

At first, I heard nothing.
