Found This in My Aunt’s Recipe Box From the 1960s: These Disappeared in Minutes at the Church Potluck!

Variation Ideas to Try

While the 1960s original is perfection in its simplicity, you can easily modernize this recipe:

  • The “Loaded” Puff: Fold in 1/2 cup of sharp shredded cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup of crispy bacon bits before baking.
  • The Herbaceous Puff: Stir in finely chopped fresh chives or parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
  • The Spicy Puff: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the potato mixture to give it a kick.

How to Store and Reheat

If you miraculously have any leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Do not microwave them to reheat, or they will lose their signature crispiness! Instead, pop them back onto a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes until heated through and crisp again.
