She looked at me with tears in her eyes.
That box disappeared thirty years ago.
I picked it up and opened it.
Inside was an old photograph.
In it appeared my grandfather, my grandmother and a young man that I had never seen.
Behind the photograph was a phrase:

I looked at my grandmother.
Who is this man?
She closed her eyes.
“He’s your father.
I felt like I was short of breath.
“My father?” But you always told me he died before I was born.
My grandmother started crying.
I lied to you.
Before I could ask you why, someone knocked on the door.

My grandmother got up terrified.
“Don’t open.
I looked out the window.
A man in his sixties was standing in front of the house.
And he had in his hand a small medallion with the same symbol of the peacock.

My grandmother whispered:
“It’s him.
I opened the door.
The man looked at me for several seconds.
Then he said:
“You’ve grown a lot.
“Who are you?”
The man swallowed saliva.
“My name is Daniel.
My heart began to beat strongly.
Are you my father?
Daniel lowered his head.Yes.lksr
My grandmother appeared behind me.
“After so many years, why have you returned?”
Daniel replied:
“Because I don’t have much time left. And before I die, I need to tell you the truth.
