PART 2: The Wrong Flight Changed Everything

PART 2: A Single Phone Call Changed Everything

Alexander Vale stood completely still.

For several long seconds, the only sound inside the private jet was the quiet hum of the engines.

Then Dr. Reynolds’ words echoed once more.

“Someone has filed legal guardianship documents.”

Alexander slowly lowered his phone.

“That can’t be right,” he said quietly.

“I’ve reviewed the paperwork several times,” Dr. Reynolds replied. “Everything appears authentic, but the signatures require immediate verification.”

Alexander’s expression hardened.

“I never authorized any of it.”

“I understand,” the doctor answered. “That’s exactly why I contacted you before taking any further action.”

The call ended.

Silence filled the cabin.

Estelle glanced at little Sophie, who rested peacefully beneath a blanket, completely unaware that adults were discussing decisions that could affect her future.

Alexander closed his eyes briefly before turning toward the flight crew.

“We’re changing plans.”

The attendant looked surprised.

“Sir?”

“We’re not flying to Paris.”

He spoke calmly.

“Set a course for Boston.”

No one asked another question.

As the aircraft adjusted its route across the Atlantic, Alexander sat beside Sophie and gently brushed a strand of hair away from her face.

“I should have paid closer attention,” he whispered.

Estelle recognized the weight in his voice.

It wasn’t frustration.

It was guilt.

“You trusted someone you cared about,” she said softly.

Alexander gave a faint, tired smile.

“That doesn’t make the consequences easier.”

“No,” Estelle agreed.

“But it explains why you didn’t expect this.”

Hours later, while the jet crossed the ocean, another story was quietly unfolding in Paris.

Inside an elegant townhouse, Camille Moreau was preparing for what she believed would be an important evening.

Everything appeared perfectly arranged.

Fresh flowers.

Formal attire.

A carefully planned dinner.

She glanced at the clock and smiled.

“Alexander should have landed by now.”

Just then, her phone rang.

An unfamiliar number.

She answered immediately.

“The flight has changed course,” a voice informed her.
