Age Is Not the Biblical Measure of a Marriage
The Bible neither commands spouses to be close in age nor establishes an acceptable numerical gap. Abraham and Sarah demonstrate that an age difference could exist within a biblical marriage, while the ages of other famous couples, including Mary and Joseph, often aren’t provided at all.
That silence shouldn’t be turned into a rule in either direction.
A large age difference does not automatically make a relationship wise, and it does not automatically make it wrong. Christians still need to exercise judgment about compatibility, maturity, motives and circumstances.
But when asking specifically what the Bible says, the emphasis is clear: Scripture has considerably more to say about how spouses believe, love, behave and treat one another than about the number of years between them.
