The Legendary 3-Ingredient Party Fudge That Beats Your Mom’s Recipe
Equipment:
- An 8×8 inch baking pan
- Aluminum foil or parchment paper
- A microwave-safe bowl (or a double boiler)
Ingredients:
- 3 cups (18 oz) high-quality semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk!)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
- Optional Add-in: 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (as pictured in the bakery display)
- Optional Topping: A pinch of flaky sea salt
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prep the Pan
Line your 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper, leaving a couple of inches of overhang on the sides. This “sling” will allow you to easily lift the entire block of fudge out of the pan for perfect slicing later.
2. Combine the Bases
In your large microwave-safe bowl, dump in the chocolate chips, the entire can of sweetened condensed milk, and the cubed butter.
3. Melt Gently
- The Microwave Method: Microwave the bowl on high for 60 seconds, then give it a thorough stir. Continue microwaving in 15 to 20-second bursts, stirring vigorously between each session, until the chocolate is completely melted, glossy, and smooth. Do not over-cook it, or the chocolate will seize!
- The Stovetop Method: If you prefer the stove, place the ingredients in a glass bowl over a pot of gently simmering water (a double boiler) and stir continuously until completely melted.
