Maddox, for example, has recently been credited professionally as Maddox Jolie rather than Maddox Jolie-Pitt, and reports in 2026 have described steps toward legally dropping “Pitt” from his name.

Other siblings have also been reported to use Jolie without Pitt in certain contexts.
However, reporting about Knox specifically has not always been consistent.
Us Weekly reported in July 2026 that several of the siblings had taken steps to remove “Pitt” from their names, while noting that Pax and Knox had not publicly revealed the same change.
Meanwhile, an El País report published July 12, 2026 said that the twins, Knox and Vivienne, had also dropped “Pitt” and were using Jolie as their surname.
Because those reports differ, the viral statement that Knox definitely “still goes by his dad’s name” should not be presented as an unquestionable fact.
