Crockpot Ham, Green Beans & Potatoes

👩‍🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prep and Layer Your Ingredients 🏗️🥔

  1. Spray the inside of a large (6-quart or larger) slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray for easy cleanup.
  2. Place the quartered potatoes and chopped sweet onion directly into the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Layer your snapped fresh green beans right on top of the potatoes.
  4. Top the vegetable bed with your cubed or bone-in ham. (Putting the ham on top allows all those smoky, savory juices to drip down and season the veggies as it cooks!)

Step 2: Season and Pour 🥣💦

  1. In a medium bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the 3 cups of chicken broth, minced garlic, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. (Go light on the salt initially, as the ham will naturally release a good amount of sodium into the broth!)
  2. Pour the seasoned broth evenly over the ham and veggies in the slow cooker.
  3. Dot the top of the ham with the 2 tbsp of cubed butter for an extra-rich, velvety finish.

Step 3: Let the Magic Happen! ⏰❄️

  1. Cover the slow cooker with the lid.
  2. Cook on LOW for 7 to 8 hours or on HIGH for 4 hours. You’ll know it’s ready when the potatoes are completely fork-tender and the green beans are soft, dark green, and infused with smoky flavor.

Step 4: Toss and Serve 🍽️✨

  1. Gently toss the ingredients together right inside the pot to distribute the ham, potatoes, and green beans evenly.
  2. Taste the broth and add a pinch of salt if needed.
  3. Ladle large, comforting portions into deep bowls, making sure to include plenty of that liquid gold smoky broth. Serve hot!
