Deviled Eggs- Don’t Lose This Recipe
👩🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: The Foolproof Hard-Boil 🥚🔥
- Place your eggs in a single layer at the bottom of a large saucepan. Cover them with cold water so there is at least an inch of water above the eggs.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- As soon as the water boils, turn off the heat, cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid, and let it sit undisturbed for exactly 12 minutes.
Step 2: The Ice Bath Shock ❄️🛑
- While the eggs sit, fill a large bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
- Once the 12-minute timer goes off, immediately transfer the eggs from the hot water into the ice bath using a slotted spoon.
- Let them chill for at least 10 minutes. (This stops the cooking process instantly and prevents that unappealing gray-green ring around the yolk!)
Step 3: Peel and Slice 🔪✨
- Gently tap the eggs on your counter to crack the shells all over, then roll them lightly to loosen the membrane. Peel under cool running water.
- Slice each egg in half lengthwise.
- Gently pop the hardened yolks out of the whites and transfer them into a medium mixing bowl. Arrange the empty egg white halves cut-side-up on a serving platter.
Step 4: Blend the Ultimate Filling 🌀🥣
- Use a fork to mash the egg yolks until they form fine, uniform crumbles with no large lumps left.
- Add the ½ cup of mayonnaise, 1 tbsp of mustard, 2 tsp of relish, ½ tsp of apple cider vinegar, and ¼ tsp of garlic powder.
- Mix vigorously until the filling becomes incredibly smooth, creamy, and velvety. Taste it and add a pinch of salt and black pepper to your liking.
