MY EX REFUSED TO HELP OUR SICK NEWBORN — “SHE’S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AND YOUR PROBLEM.” SO I CALLED THE LAST PERSON I EXPECTED TO TRUST: HIS OWN MOTHER.

WHAT BARBARA DID NEXT LEFT EVERYONE STUNNED — BECAUSE ERIC HAD FORGOTTEN WHOSE MONEY HIS WHOLE LIFE RAN ON.

PART 1

My ex refused to help our newborn, saying she was “my responsibility and my problem” — but what his own mother did next left everyone stunned.

My name is Nora, and weeks before my daughter was born, my husband Eric left me for his mistress. He emptied our savings, called my pregnancy “a burden,” and walked out.

The stress made me sick. Doctors rushed me into an emergency C-section, and my daughter, Chloe, spent her first days under the NICU lights. She came home needing breathing treatments I could barely afford.

So I called Eric. “You took our savings. She needs her father.”

“You chose to keep her. She’s your responsibility and your problem,” he said. “Ask someone who cares. Definitely not me.”

I drove to his house with Chloe. His girlfriend answered the door in his shirt. “Your baby mama’s here for another handout,” she laughed.

“I only need it for her treatment,” I begged.

Eric glanced at Chloe. “I have a life now. Stop showing up with your little brat.” They shut the door.

I called the last person I expected to trust: Eric’s mother, Barbara. We’d never gotten along.

After I told her everything, the line went silent. “He didn’t even tell me you were pregnant. I’ll be there soon.”

An hour later she arrived in her coat over pajamas, lifted Chloe, and cooed to her.

Then she said, “I have a plan to teach Eric and that girlfriend a lesson. No man gets to humiliate the woman who carried his child.”

Because what Eric had forgotten was that his entire lifestyle ran on his mother’s money.

And she’d just decided to stop signing the checks.
