Sticky Honey Garlic Ribs
👩🍳 Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prep the Ribs 🍖🔪
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Flip the rack of ribs bone-side-up. Use a butter knife to slide under the thin, translucent membrane (silverskin) covering the bones. Grabbing it with a paper towel for grip, pull it completely off and discard it. (Removing this ensures your ribs turn out incredibly tender and absorb all the seasonings!)
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Rub this spice blend generously all over both sides of the ribs.
Step 2: Low and Slow Bake 🥖💨
- Lay out a large double layer of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Place the seasoned ribs in the center, bone-side down.
- Wrap the foil tightly around the ribs to create a completely sealed packet so the steam stays trapped inside. Place the packet onto a large baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 2 hours to 2 hours and 30 minutes, or until the meat is fork-tender.
Step 3: Whisk the Master Glaze 🍯🧄
- While the ribs are baking, combine all the glaze ingredients (honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, hoisin sauce, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes) in a small saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens into a rich, syrupy glaze. Remove from heat.
Step 4: Glaze and Broil to Sticky Perfection! 🔄🔥
- Carefully open the foil packet (watch out for hot steam!) and discard the excess liquid rendered in the foil.
- Turn your oven to the BROIL setting (high).
- Using a pastry brush, slather half of the honey garlic glaze generously over the top of the ribs.
- Pop the ribs back into the oven uncovered under the broiler for 3 to 4 minutes until the glaze starts to bubble and caramelize into deep golden-brown spots.
- Remove, brush with the remaining glaze, and broil for another 2 minutes until beautifully sticky and glossy.
