My Parents Threw Me Out on Christmas—Then the Bank Saw Grandpa’s Box

Victor’s breathing changed.

“This is because of Christmas.”

“No.”

“The timing is because of Christmas.”

“The audit is because Grandpa put the right into the trust years before Christmas.”

“You vindictive little—”

He stopped himself.

Interesting.

“What were you going to say?”

“Nothing.”

“Good.”

“Then let the audit happen.”

He hung up.

Brielle called immediately after.

She did not even say hello.

“You’re trying to steal Dad’s company.”

“No.”

“You lost your job and suddenly you’re coming after ours.”

“Ours?”

“Yes.”

“Dad is making me executive vice president.”

“Did the board approve that?”

Silence.

“Did the compensation committee?”

Another silence.

“Eliza, stop pretending you know anything about business.”

“I know enough to ask whether your promotion actually exists.”
